Düsseldorf’s Most Beautiful Garden Restaurant

Whether it’s a family breakfast, a business lunch, or dinner with friends – Spoerl Fabrik is a true all-rounder. Our coffee comes from the traditional Florentine roastery Mokaflor, and our bread is delivered fresh by local favorites Bio-Bäcker Schüren and Kult-Bäcker Hinkel.

Our kitchen creates modern crossover cuisine with influences from Arab, Asian, and Mediterranean flavors. After dinner, enjoy trendy drinks in a relaxed lounge atmosphere across the street in our bar – the former coach house. With its exposed brick walls, velvet armchairs, and art photography, it’s a true gem.

This historic location is also the perfect backdrop for unconventional weddings and is one of Düsseldorf’s top addresses for Christmas parties, birthday celebrations, corporate events, or even small meetings and workshops. A projector and screen are available.

In summer, our lush courtyard is unbeatable – with outdoor seating under blooming wisteria, a majestic walnut tree, and the coziest terrace in all of Düsseldorf.

An oasis of calm in the vibrant neighborhood of Pempelfort.

The Spoerl Fabrik – A Place with History

Built in 1904, the J.H. Spoerl machine factory once belonged to the father of Düsseldorf author Heinrich Spoerl, best known for his novel “Die Feuerzangenbowle”, which became famous through its film adaptation starring Heinz Rühmann. The factory originally produced machinery for the paper-processing industry.

At the entrance of the restaurant, you’ll now find two black-and-white portraits of Heinrich Spoerl, gifted to us at our opening in 1993 by Inge Spoerl, the author’s daughter-in-law.

After an extensive restoration by Düsseldorf architect Piet Neiser, the former factory, including the gatekeeper’s villa and the coach house, was brought back to life in 1993. Since then, it has opened its doors to creatives, becoming home to a restaurant and a bar.

The idyllic garden with outdoor seating and art by Anatol (a student of Beuys), the historic buildings with antique furnishings from Belgium and France, Art Deco chandeliers, and a vintage bar counter from Paris’ Marché aux Puces all provide a truly unique setting – ideal for extraordinary birthday celebrations, atmospheric Christmas parties, lively summer gatherings, and unforgettable weddings.

A special place for special occasions.

It’s no surprise that in 2013, scenes from the film “Adieu Paris”, starring Jessica Schwarz and Sandrine Bonnaire, were shot right here.
